The Government

The whole purpose of the government is to serve and protect the people. More specifically, its job is to serve and protect the country as a whole. This is not too different from how the police serve and protect, though they do so on a much smaller scale, in individual cities. If the government is not kept in check, and if they begin doing things that are not beneficial for the people as a whole, then what is the point of even having that government? If enough people want socialism, then the government should try its best to give those people socialism. However, the government should not force it on those who want otherwise. If people want real freedom, then the government should move out of the way and give them that. I think that most people, if they understood what socialism really was, would not want to live in a country run this way.
